Don't be this guy.  Trust, but verify.  This video jumps right to Stage 4 of an email compromise scam.  The executive has been convinced to send money and is now convincing his colleague to act.

Email compromise involves Boris (our name for the malicious actor), who has identified this company as a target, monitored and groomed this executive, and convinced him to act.  Each step takes different forms but follows the same cycle.

The Business Email Compromise Cycle

Known indications of an email compromise scam include the following characteristics:

    • Emails request action near the close of business.
    • Emails convey a sense of urgency to the victim.
    • Emails demand confidentiality about the transaction.
    • Emails contain grammar, spelling, or punctuation errors.
    • Emails contain non-standard fonts or abnormal formatting.
